Far Cry 2: Multiplayer Assault Mode Petition | Forums

Multiplayer for Far Cry was a unique experience, with the Assault mode treading that fine line between tactics and action that isnt seen in any other game. While it wasn't to everyone's liking, some people being put off by the poor netcode and bolted on PB integration, it is the main reason that there is still an active PC Far Cry community today.

By now many of you will be aware that Ubisoft are developing Far Cry 2 for the PC.
Lots has changed; Jack Carver has been left behind and the new location is Africa.
To date there has been no mention from UBI on what the multiplayer experience will involve.

Discussing this amongst the team that helped admin the Ubi EU community servers, we agreed that while Ubi may provide something fresh and exciting in this area, we couldn't envision Far Cry without Assault.

So what could we do to ensure that Ubi was aware of the depth of our concern, and include Assault as a game mode?

Well, we considered tying Kimi, the Ubi FC2 Dev team Liaison rep to railings outside the Montreal office, but we figured the rest of the team would enjoy the piece and quiet of her and her camcorder not being around, so the next best thing was to start a petition...

Well that depends on how many people have signed it!

So whether like us you cant imagine Far Cry without Assault, or maybe you don't care about this game but like the thought of a community wanting to be heard by a large corporation, please take a few moments to click the link below and add your name to the petition.

I have signed it, and thanks for those who started it.

Although I think this shouldn´t be needed...(Assult presence in FC2 shouldn´t even be questioned)

FarCry community is a very special comunity, and as I have said in other places, FarCry players usually buy and play other games but...they don´t play them for long,specially on multiplayer...as it is quite hard for a FarCry assault player to like other types of games.

The community is big, and is very excited about FC2 (about time), although Crysis can be looked as competition, for most of us it wont as hardly we will like crysis as much as we love FarCry.

So Ubisoft, don´t let us down please!!! We are so excited to play a new and fresh FarCry, but don´t take away from us the reasons why we love farcry so much.

I signed the petition, too. The service was the slowest I've seen in a long time and I'm not sure, if it is the best method to deliver the message... not even sure if my signing got through.

Anyways, assault is unique and should definitely be part of FC2.

Without the Assault-mode Farcry will never be the same... I play Farcry not because of the single player game, because it´s boring for me... But in the Multiplayer game I have a lot of fun... And the most important variety of the Multiplayer game is the Assault-mode...Ubisoft, keep the Assault-mode on in Farcry 2, PLEASE...

And the most importand variety of the Multiplayer game is the Assault-mode... Keep the Assault-mode on in Farcry 2, PLEASE...
