    Hello severniae,

I figure you are having problems with SH5.

Did you download Directx 9.0c from the Dvd or from the internet. Directx 9.0c is needed to run the game.

Could you list your computer specifications. SH5 is a very demanding Graphic game.

Were you ever able to play the game?
    What mods are you using.

    Hi Yooperbacker,

Yes, been able to play it alot until recently. I was using rather a selection of mods, however my initial troubleshoot was to disable them all - still same error. So I un-installed and re-installed the game - same error again.

    I'm running windows 7 pro - 32bit
ATI Mobility radeon HD 4330 (I updated the drivers - no effect)
4GB RAM Obviously only 3Gb usable due to darn 32 bit
    2.10 GHz Core 2 Duo

I've got DirectX 11 on the machine (comes with 7 as far as I'm aware)

The only thing that I've installed recently that I could imagine could conflict is Visual C# Express. In fact thats the only thing i've installed, however I've uninstalled that to see if the problem goes away and as yet no luck

Try uninstalling again and run a registry cleaner after the un-install. Sometimes left over registry items mess up the game.

I use Wise Registry Cleaner. They also have a Wise Disk Cleaner to.

Don't install any mods, just try running the game as is.

If you have played it before you should be ok with the Directx 9.0c. Directx 9.0c puts extra files in your computer you need to run the game. Just because you have Directx 11 does not mean it includes all the other Directx. Each Directx is seperate from other Directx's.

I have the same exact error message Sev. Did you ever find a solution?

It is my belief that the day I installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is the day this all started, the exact address for this MSVCR90.dll was updated that day. SH5 craps out just before it would normally start with game play (after menuing and loading etc.)

    I am on Win 7 64 bit.

I wish I could find a fix. I dual boot into XP so I can still play the game, but having to do so is a royal pain in the &*&^.

Sev - I just read your 2nd post where you said that you installed Visual C express. Well, that confirms it. I installed VS 2010 pro. Looks like Microsoft Torpedoed SH5 for us.
