Thread: So what happens after Tanner wakes up from his coma? | Forums

  1. #1
Martin E.'s quoted in this video that Tanner slowly realizes as the story progresses, that his "superpower" isn't really what it seems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...1f6jI&feature=relmfu

I'm only assuming here, but if Tanner wakes up from his coma upon completing the game, can we no longer free roam around SF and use Shift? I can't imagine a sandbox game like this made in the next gen console era would finish off like that, but it's just a concerning thought I had while watching the above clip.

Any thoughts? Have the devs commented on this?

I hope not I want and plan to finish the game 100% which I always tell people I don't play single player anymore which I prefer multiplayer now days so if I finished and could not keep free-roaming this would be probably Driver's biggest downfall!I think the question is would the developer's actually be stupid enough to end the game this way(no offense because I love Reflections)personally I have faith that they were smart enough to see this coming and let you finish and keep free-roaming because other wise most of us would not want to finish the story! Also Director mode would be useless then!1 more thing I think it will be the type of game you finish the story and then credits roll then you enter the game and keep playing!

You might lose it as part of the story, But I am betting you will get it back when free-roaming outside of missions and after you finish the game.

Not only that, but what on earth will they do in the next Driver game? Include shift and be forced to rehash the coma storyline? or have a more conventional story but lose the excuse for shift?

They're really in a pickle now...

    if you take it seriously...
all the hunt for jericho in tanner's coma would be just his vision.
when tanner finally wakes up (if he does) jericho wouldn't be caught. at least not by tanner himself.
    i think of this possibilities:

    a) tanner doesn't wake up and remains in coma - forever
    b) tanner wakes up and realizes that someone else had caught jericho and he had interpreted it in his mind by the influence of the TV in his room
    c) tanner wakes up and realizes that he has to hunt jericho for a second time. now in reality and without shift.
    d) tanner wakes up and realizes that he is actually from planet krypton and got the shift ability in reality.

Totally called it a year ago! Well not really, but I still hope that is how the game ends. Though it may limit replayability once the story is over...
What the next DRIVER needs: Tighter, narrower streets for slower, more responsive cars as seen in D1,2,3. More 70s feel, possibly the entire game's setting. Keep 88mph top speed as the norm, with only bonus supercars going beyond. Get rid of Burnout as the default acceleration. Unlicensed Vehicles- so that they can be destroyed with explosions. On foot returning, with a version of shift as an unlockable. Weapons, with FPS controls like D3, only more polished. Hubcaps. Car underside pouncing. Offroad areas without invisible walls. All previous driver game cheats return plus a few surprises. All camera angles in D1 Film Director returning. Completely overhauled multiplayer, with virtually no 'boosting'. Finally, ability to play multiplayer offline, and with bots.

Failing that, D1 and 2 as fully emulated games unlockable within Driver 6.

What i think is that Tanner will wake up from his coma and from the mission that you do in his coma he will add up where Jericho is or when he wakes up on the TV it might say cop chase after Jericho so then Tanner goes in his car and tries to defeat Jericho without the use of shift
