Thread: So we got hardcore | Forums

So we got hardcore mode. But it appears to me that he patch was too late. Noone is playing anymore.

One big downside with the patch was that now that it's simpler to serve, people spam us with servers that noone admins and that noone plays on. I just counted 23 empty servers in ranked.

Ranked game is dying really fast now.

I agree Tango, i have permanently shut down 2 of my 3 servers for Ranked. the patch was too late, the game is too hard to get to work, and everyone really hates waiting forever for a good game.

And its true, i dont admin my server 24/7 as I have a real life and a career thats sticll kicking arse even with the current economic state of the US. However, the daytime hours when I work are peak hours for me, as are the wee hours of the morning when Im still recharging for the next day.

im darn sure not going to shut down my server in the only busy time I have left. If the Project Lead for this game still has a job, I am going to apply at Ubi too so I can screw everything up and retain my paycheck

Also, ive been watching the servers too from a second PC in my home on a second profile on the second copy of this game i bought. You are right, if we spread everything evenly, each player still playing FC2 could probably have his very own server to play on. One night, there was 26 servers and 18 people playing.

I will continue to run one server, and run my little clan too. Also there will be new maps, but I am really stepping back from this (literal) headache of a game.

Arma 2 comes out tomorrow.

Ive preordered my copy on Steam.

What about you?

How do you figure that no one is playing anymore? Do you have some facts and figures to show for it?

I see new people joining my server and other servers all the time. Plus I've seen many high ranked vets playing, and they play often. Just because you see empty servers doesn't mean less people are playing. The ranked games that have already started do not continue to show up in the list.

The real problem is the lack of patience among gamers. Most of them will not even wait 5 minutes to try and get a full server. There are too many servers where the admin has left the minimum players to the default, which is 2. So, once 2 people have set their status as "ready", the match will then start, and no one can join afterwards. Most noobs want to start the match when there are only 6 or less players. There was this one moron who joined my server once, and he told me to start(start the match) almost immediately after he arrived in the lobby. I've been forced to ban a couple of them when they start talking like animals because I refuse to start with only 2 players.

Even if you do manage to get on a full server, there's still the people who ditch once the game has started. If things aren't going their way, they'll just leave one by one. I'm also aware that many people get disconnected too. So it's hard to say what has happened when they become disconnected. It would be really nice if the game's console displayed whether a user left by choice or not.

Yes, last few days it seems like that number of players is decreasing, and number of cheaters increasing a bit.
What I really dont like is, that you cant join in progress for ranked matches, thats why I play them so rarely, only when I cant find good player match. Because - maybe others have time to wait 5 min. before game start, or they like play 8 vs 2 when people leave/be kicked from server, but not me. Sorry..
Hardocre mode is great, game itself is after last patch much better than before, servers are much much better then before as well. so only thing whose could help bring more people ingame is that UBI should a bit more work with mappers community and try advertise game a bit. Because to be honest - we can maybe say now, that game is finished and good (as it wasnt when was released), and now it really deserve some gaming community attention.
So I hope its not too late...

THIS AND MANY OTHER REASONS IS WHY TANGO AND I AND PACIENT ARE CORRECT.

YOU CANT DENY LOGGING ON AND SEEING 25 SERVERS, AND ONLY 4 HAVE ANY PLAYERS AT ALL, AND THOSE ARE NOWHERE NEAR FULL. ANYONE WHO HAS ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME RECENTLY WILL ATTEST TO THAT.

So look dude, or whatever you are. I have 3 Pc's in my home and when I log on to play i refresh the server list repeatedly on one of the other ones. I see what I see and one wierdo coming and pretending like we just have a bustling community going isnt going to change my mind. The game has a very small player base and it shrinks weekly. Sure, I see vets and new peeps alike coming. No 1 ever said that nobody at all plays. We will continue to see new people as they buy GPU's bundled with the game and when it hits 20$ on stor shelves.

In the end though, its dying plain and simple. Even a blind man would see that. That does not mean that I am giving up on the game, just taking a few steps back. I cut 2 servers and havent even opened the map editor lately. Hopefully the game will re-energize and we can go back to the way it was back in oh say february when I firs started playing Ranked MP.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Also, it is summer here in the US. I don't get much gaming time, since I am too tired from day time activities. When late fall and winter return I will get much more gaming time.

Even with the downturn, I booked ten thousand new map downloads of my maps--which only comprise 1/5 of the maps I run on my server--in the last ten days. So though I don't spend much time in-server because of tendonitis problems and summertime, I can say fc2 must not be totally dead. When I do play, there are at least 8 guys in a match, my server's minimum. Meanwhile I play an 8v8 tourney, 2 hours of TDM, CTD, and Uprising, most Saturdays. So for me, it's far from dead.

Not dead. But diluted by lots of servers that shouldn't be there: Unadmined and without a clue as to how to set it up correctly.

Hope natural selection works. It usually does.
