Put in disc 1 and start the installation. Then during the installation it will ask for disc 2, and then disc 3. One it is installed you need to go to http://patches.ubi.com/splinter_cell/ and download the 1.02b patch.
Once you patch the game, insert disc 3 to play.
I have the fifth freedom... so watch out, here I come

One of the discs should have a read me file on it. In general, Splinter Cell is a stealth game- you want to try to move around unseen and unheard. Using any of your weapons should be a last resort. Moving slowly and in a crouched position is the quietest and least likely to attract attention. Stick to the shadows as much as possible and watch where guards are and are looking so you can sneak past when they are looking the other way.
If you should have the need to either kill or knock out anybody, be sure to hide the body in a dark corner where they cannot be found- otherwise an alarm may be sounded. You can sneak up behind people quietly and grab them. Then you may be able to get information from them sometimes. Knock them out by clicking your left mouse. Check all areas for things you can use. The game starts with a training course to help teach you some of the moves you can make and your controls.
