Thread: New install, now my rudder doesn't work | Forums

  1. #1
Hi, I've been playing this game for a long time and have either got new or upgraded PCs in the past, but have never come across this.

I can't the sim to recognize my rudder pedals.

    I have;

    1. Upgraded the frimware.

    2. Upgraded the software.

    3. Tried another USB port.

    4. Tried another pair of pedals.

    5. Tried reinstalling the game.

    6. Tried running it in the old OS.

    7. Tried using someone elses config.ini and il2 setup.ini.

    All with no luck.

Any ideas? I'm at wits end.

I have recently upgraded the board, CPU, RAM and graphics card. I have a Sandy Bridge board, Win7 and a G940.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, try going to the HOTAS part of control set up and assign there. If you run 4.10.1 then you can set up the sensitivity of all you inputs.

I've never been able to get Il-2 to work with my stick and rudder pedals unless I use the CH software to combine them into one device. I wonder if it's a Win7 thing.

I've gone through the HOTAS assignments, it won't allow the axes to be assigned to the pedals.

I have tried runnign the PC in Vista and get the same issues.

If I go to Harware>Input in the game all the axes are grayed out and unselectable.

I did download Il2joycontrol and had the same issues. I fly FSX and A-10 DCS and have no issues with either game, this leads me to believe it's Il2 specific.

    I did.

I think I got it figured out all on me own, in my own painful way.

    Thanks for your help though.

There's a clue that I missed. I have Thrustmaster MFDs, so in total there are 5 controllers plugged into my PC.

    They are:

    MFD Right (ID1)
    MFD Left (ID2)
    Joystick (ID3)
    Throttle(ID4)
    Pedals (ID5)

Il2 supports only IDs 1-4. Therefore the sim dropped ID5.

If you installed in Vista or Win7 to the default location (in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL2 folder) then this can happen, the operating system will not let the game save changes to the controls assignment file. For best results installing the game to a folder outside the Program Files folder works best. Most use C:\Games\IL2 or something similar.

How do you change the ID of the controllers to make the pedals come before the MFDs?

    Thanks.

I guess the G940 shows its controllers as separate items? Unless Logitech has a software method of combining them as "a single, virtual controller" as CH does then you are indeed limited to four.

For some obscure reason, the Windows Game Controllers program always places gamepads and MFDs at ID1 and joysticks, pedals and throttles after them.
