(Yes I have read the readme suggestion to avoid this combination)

While I have read the responses that indicate the slideshow effect when heat blur / antialiasing are used in combination is due to a conflict on the video card I'm beginning to question this.

After seeing others post this workaround I tried it and IT WORKS!

    Try this:

    1. Enable AA on your video card

    2. Start LOMAC and select the F15 quick start mission

    3. Unpause then change to an external view

    4. Slow down to 400KIAS or so

    5. At this point I get a 1-3 FPS slideshow

    6. Press "s" to pause game

    7. ALT-TAB back to the Windows desktop

    8. ALT-TAB back into LOMAC

    9. Unpause the game

Viola - the smooth framerates return - this time WITH heat blur displayed in all its glory.

Seems kinda strange a video card related conflict could be solved by switching back to the Windows desktop.

I'm sure the devs are very busy - is this being researched?

    Thanks.

FREAKING AWESOME GAME BY THE WAY. Thank you for your efforts.

And your sure that FSAA is actually still on ? -look at some edges and see. I ask because its a common fact that when you taskswitch, and return to the game, the drivers loose the FSAA.

I can replicate that in serveral games.

Maybe the FSAA simply disappears and thereby no longer causes conflicts with heatblur ?

    Really? Now that's a distinct possibility I hadn't considered.

Thanks, I'll do some additional research.

DAMN! I stand corrected. After further review it does appear in fact that taskswitch disables the FSAA - thereby removing the conflict.

Oh well - I guess it's either or (heat blur or FSAA) like Stormin told us in the first place

I posted this in a thread a while back but...

You only get slow fps if the aircraft that shows the heat effect is flying faster than when the heat effects kick in.

If the aircraft with the effects starts on the ground or below the speed it starts to show, the fps will be normal regardless of the fact that AA or AF is turned on.
