Thread: Please Explain Skin Download... | Forums

  1. #1
After the recent experiment Zekes vs. Wildcats conducted concerning custom skins, I and some of the other Horsemen were wondering why it takes some people so long to recieve a skin after someone spawns in.

On my computer I could see a new skin within two to four minutes, sometimes less, while a few people couldn't see one after fifteen minutes or more.

Can anyone explain why this happens, and is there any way to speed up the process (other than everyone having to download and install skins) so that this "lag" is lessened to someone new to a server?

I started a thread on this at SimHQ as well. I think I got an answer that explains it.

It's certainly more noticeable in public coops where anyone can drop in & fly. For a server with a regular community I'd really recommend sharing a folder of paint-schemes that everyone downloads & inserts into the appropriate files. It saves a bunch of upload time
