I could definitely see the eccentricness you were talking about while he was playing. The piece is great to hear, and I am even more impressed that he memorized it. I am curious though on how long it took for him to memorize it in its entirety.
And does he always 'sing along'?

Toria, that's a fascinating story! Quite an experience for your Dad even so, seeing GG play at such close quarters.

And yes, Speedy, singing along was one of his traits - even in the recording studio.

Sad story. I was particularly touched by the last paragraph.

How truly sad that whole site is How many died? How many are sick with cancer from that? So sad. I can recall stories of the children of Chernobyl coming to Canada, for rest and recuperation. A certain amount of time away from the radiation gives their bodies a chance to heal. But forever, their bodies will carry a memory of this So sad, yes.

According to wikipedia, it is hard to tabulate/quantify the impact of the disaster in terms of health and death due to intense political cover ups at the time. The article I have the link to above predict over 40 people died in the explosion and maybe 9000 people affected by the radiation.

Wow, indeed an interesting site... some of those stories are funny but others are just flat out disturbing! Some of the disturbing ones make me think they should be candidates for Darwin Awards...

    And now for amusement:
    Regarding pi and imaginary numbers.

And a fun little vocabulary test... apparently I need to study more:

I got a 5/10, but I guess it is hard to compare since you get different words for each time you take it.
But it is a fascinating little test! Too bad I didn't have it for the SATs four or more years ago!
