    Just installed a PNY nv 8800 gt into the compaq and sometimes i hear another fan kick in, if its the grpahics card one it is loud. Are all the other factory fans set to perate at a set speed unless going into n tune or similar program??? My processor amd 64 3700 2.2 ghz is at 100% while gaming, so at first i thought maybe there was a overheat speed for cpu but it seems to be doing the same speed. Power supply is 400watt coolermax and im unsure of whether its a constant speed fan or not. downloaded n tune utility just before i came to work so unable to tinker with all of that yet. So if its the card heating up, what is best to cool things, i have an open pci slot but i would have to remove unused modem to put in a case extractor/vga cooler fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Ntune is terrible, stay away from it. If you want to tweak the card use either EVGA's Precision or Rivatuner. The VGA BIOS on the card controls the fan speed but can be manipulated with software like the ones mentioned above. It is best to uninstall ntune as fast as you can, it's nothing but trouble.

    Get RivaTuner

    Go into the fan option in a tab on the bottom part pulldown somplace. Set the fan to be controlled manually, Move the slider to 97% and wolla, nice cooling. You can save this setting as a name to just click on also within the program not on the desktop.

    www.cpuid.com and download HWMonitor (free version) to monitor temps, voltages and fan speeds.

    If you hear a fan just hold the system fans with your finger for a sec to see wich one it is, my guess is its the CPU fan, and if so i sugest you get a better cooler with a more silent fan.

    A good option to get more cool air through your system is to fit a big fan in the front and rear of the case to get air flowing trough it from front to back.

    Also make sure nothing is blocking the airflow like a flat cable or dust in the coolers.

    Thanks for the help guys, im now using riva tuner and set fan speed to 60% and staying under 75C after 2hrs gaming.

    My preference it to keep my card near 55-60 C and turn the fan to 95%
