ATI 4.11 and 4.10 | Forums

After some tests it is clear now that 4.11 has graphic corruption that many and myself have experimented but only with the new il2fb.exe file. The old .exe file works perfectly with 4.10 and 4.11.

However it was said that the 4.11 would be for those with 256 MB graphic cards like my 9800XT but I still do not see what is exactly the improvement or for what aspects.

It's not so simple GE. If you look through the forum you'll find quite a few people have had problems with the 4.11 drivers *before* the new exe was available (me included). Although the problems usually seem to be the same - square clouds, missing textures etc whether it's the old exe or the new one.

It's quite exasperating, and I have gone back to 4.10 for the moment, although I might try again now we have another new exe to try.

Steve I clearly meant it is clear for what regards all the tests made on my system, and I did really loose some time trying to understand. I should have been more precise.

The system is:

ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe
P4 3.4 Ghz
2 GB Ram Corsair XMS 4000
Audigy 2 ZS
ATI 9800 XT 256 MB (Overdrive)
Windows XP Pro SP1
DirectX 9.0c

PF+AEP+FB Verson 3.01m Played with AA X4 in 1600X1200 32bit color.

I've been having same problems with 4.11... on the third try I'm back with 4.10 Cat Driver.
4.11 would run fine and then I would be getting the white runways, planes with sawblades for prop's.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and the game. But still the same problem.
I'll wait for ATI to come out with the 4.12 instead.

I hope that before you waste the effort you might see this. Its no different with new Exe. I thought for awhile I had solved the the probem with the 4.11. but it just sometimes takes several missions to manifest.

I do not even try and pretend to be of a caliber of the likes of Hunter or Steve E on anything PC related but I am very capable when it comes to ATI drivers as I have been using a ati card for 1 year +, never had a bad download, never had a bad install, with the 4.11's A total now of 4 seperate dl's 4 times of trying every trick in the book and the same errors every time.

I also want to stress that its not just related to PF or the new Exe. Our entire squadron can play 2.3 coops no problem start a new AEP or PF map and presto cookie cutter props, plastic toy soldier green skins and/or what I like to call SpaceGhost white and shiney jet black.
All one has to do to solve these problems is clean out everyshred of 4.11 and revert back to 4.10. 4.9 ....whatever.

There are far to many of us having the exact same errors, send a report in like I have......several times now...maybe they could find the fortitude to just admit that for a great many people 4.11 is broken and stop wasting our time.

Im my line of work, we break something, we admit it up front, fix it better than it was before and make sure our reputation remains intact. Disgruntled clients who are told "Must be something you did" are bad for business. Customers who know they D@nmed well didn't are even worse.

Ok. I'll stop throwing my toys now and no more sniveling, just stick with the 4.10....maybe the official 4.12 will bring us back the improved IQ and smoother play *Without* intermittent corruptions..fingers crossed

Thanks for the update, Ud. I actually did try again with the 4.11 after installing the new exe and for a whole glorious five minutes had the nice medium blue water in 4.11. Then I started another mission and I was back in Salvador Dali land with black aircraft and square clouds...

Between us, all the various posters here have pretty much proved that 4.11 has serious issues with PF. Both of us have done meticulous installs many times using registry cleaners etc and I don't think there is anything further to attempt at this stage.

For the moment I will stick with the 4.10 drivers and encourage those with 4.11 problems to fill in a Catalyst feedback form. With any luck, 4.12 or 5.1 will solve this for good.

Anyhow, look on the bright side - after this we are experts at swapping drivers in and out .
