    Seewolf1939: On SHII when I am in the sound room the sound of a destroyer's screws are the same as that of a battleship. I understand that in real life the sound man could distinguish between the two and determine what was what. Will we be able to do this on SHIII?

    Hopefully we will be able to tell approx what distance it is with experience and if it is approaching or going.

    Looking good, and though we don't have any sound bytes, sounding good.

    I hope EAX or hardware sound acceleration is supported, too. The best graphics make a game just nice, if the sound is bugged.

    Well, your italian translation isn't bad at all, but it sounds oriented to Venice's dialect (escapa=esce; compremo=compriamo).

    A translation can be made in a mode or add-on, may be. I really don't think it will be translated in many language.

    I prefere a home made good translation rather a english to french translation made by a romanian (I have nothing against romanian )

    And finnaly a french law oblige the builder to include a french manual in the box when sale in France

    Ok now back to the topic, the different sounds will be a good things to identify wich type of ship is in the vincinity, and may be the distance, speed and approximative bearing

    Great question about the sonar qaulity.

    I am curious if our recognition manual will include screw rotation references so that we may count rotations to better classify ship types and sizes. This was a common method of determining ship class using sonar.

    I suppose before I wish for the information in the manual, I should ask that the ship sounds be realistic in screw rotations to afford using a reference to compare them.

    Maybe they have fear that if they let you translate it, it will not be a good translation, so loosing sales for being a "low quality sim".
    Why not sending them a sample to show that you can do it?
    In the other hand, if they translate it to spanish nor french, for example, somebody is going to complain. And of course, Spain is not a big computer-game market, nor everybody here speaks spanish, so it is not going to play a big difference. For some of us it will be ony another game in a language we don't mostly use, like an english translation. Of course most of us understand better spanish than english but...

    Let me say, I'm in favour of a Spanish translation if it can be done, but I mostly would like to use German voices. And of course, there is always the chance to do a mod!

    About the sound, I will train my hear to use the sonar by myself, as I did in other games because I used to prefer my home-made sonar solutions to those provided to AI. Great feature!
