How do I find which version I`m playing? I`ve checked the search engine on here and none of the suggested solutions seem to work. I think I upgraded with a version 1.4 , but it informed me that I had patched version 1.3.
There is mention on here of realism settings. How do I get to these? The only options under options are of a language choice.
    Cheers

    hi there,

on patch setup program there mistype of text "patch 1.3" but its really 1.4b, the ubi developers just did little error there.

realisim settings u can get in touch
thru loading a single mission and there
you can setup the settings, they global type
so once setup realsim settings up mission/campaign goes thru as they are on.

allso you see realsim settings option before you
load campaingn mission ie leave home port.

On the main menu screen, if you look in the bottom right corner you should see what version you have. Like so...

The patch tells you you patched to 1.3, don't believe it, its lying! (Its just a small gltich, you are on 1.4 most likely)

Realism settings are found under the career section you adjust these prior to going out on patrol. So when you click the big map to start mission, then you have to choose either start mission, or click "realism settings" adjust accordingly.

Most people here as a rule of thumb will definately have limited, fuel, compressed air, oxygen, and batteries checked for definate. Word of caution if you check manual targeting, then YOU will have to enter all the data into the TDC yourself, it won't be a case of point scope or UZO at target and press fire. Just a warning.

While we are asking questions I have one too! What is the best Time Compression setting to use when you are cruising in areas when you expect to find lots of ships/convoys, by this I mean, what is the fastest TC while also not reducing efficiency of watch crew/hydrophone guy?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

If you retain Watch Officer assistence then you can use him in the Attack Periscope screen. Lock onto the target and you can get him to identify the ship type and using the "Calculate Solution" button he'll give you the range and bearing too. Some people like to do everything themselves but I figure if real Kaluens had a team of people assisting them then I should too.

The fastest 939 Athlon 64 was the 2.8Ghz FX. The 3200 runs at 2Ghz and the 3500 at 2.2Ghz. You should be able to run at TC1024 for the most part, although if you notice the game pause slightly, a hiccough in the background music or the clock skipping minutes when ticking over it's a sure sign SH3 is calculating something furiously so drop it back to TC256 or so until you find out what it is.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
