We've noticed that there are a few Theater of War rules that have not been properly communicated to the EndWar community. This has resulted in some confusion as to how the battle lines progress during the TOW online mode.

First off, all TOW battles are measured out by victories; losses are not recorded. Also, two versus two matches count as two victories when one side wins, not just one.

Most importantly, there is a "Primary Frontline Rule" that dictates which territory you move into on the next turn. Basically, each faction will have one Primary Frontline Territory. This is dictated by the number of players playing on a single territory. The territory with the most players at the end of a turn will be considered the Primary Frontline for that faction.

A win or loss on a Primary Frontline Territory is vital. If you have three territories available and lose on your Primary Frontline Territory but win on the other two, those other two territories will still be counted as loses. However, if you win on your Primary Frontline you'll still want to win on the other two territories so that you can secure them. Winning on the Primary Frontline does not turn loses on the other territories into wins. This is done to limit splintering of battlefronts and so that factions can "push" in a specific direction.

For example, if the JSF is on EFEC soil and has Le CEITO Army Base, it can attack Paris, Matera, or Ramstein Air Base. If the majority of JSF players fight on Paris, Paris will be the Primary Front Line for the JSF on that turn. That means if they lose on Paris they'll also lose on Matera and Ramstein. If the JSF were to lose in Matera and Ramstein Air Base but win in Paris, they'd still secure Paris, but they would not have Matera or Ramstein Air Base.

If a faction were to organize and have the majority of its members play in a specific map, they can dictate which territory they move into next and for subsequent turns as well (assuming they win on the Primary Frontline at each turn).

We hope this clears up any issues players may have with the TOW logic. Feel free to post any questions you may have below.

*UPDATE* - These are not new rules. This is how it's been since the game launched.

this seems like a bad idea to me, its still one battle and the total number of units you can have out on the field at one time is the same...its just theres 2 commanders commanding the same number of troops o.O

Why do factions sometimes seem to tunnel their way over to attack another faction and we dont get anything if we defend successfully?

okay what about matches that go unrecorded on the leaderboards? Are they still counted as victories? There have been times my friends would get a victory for 2v2 and I would not.

EDIT: So basically if JSF wins a territory with their most battles there, they keep their "frontline". However, if the area with the most battles is LOST, that territory is lost along with others?

EDIT #2: By the way, thank you for taking your time to explain these rules further. Now it might make coordinating battles a little easier.

Issues with wins not being properly reported are being addressed with a combination of server side updates and an upcoming downloadable update.

Kool, but do these unreported wins affect the ToW? Also, not to sound rushing or anything, but is there a certain time frame where we can expect to see this update?

Thanks a lot. That explains why after one turn five battlefields open up.

Sorry, the powers that be prevent me from giving out a date just now, all I can say is the standard, nebulous: "soon".

I'll have to check with the dev team on your other question. Send me a PM if I don't get back to you in a timely manner.
