Thread: Wired issue with moving shadows | Forums

  1. #1
    Hi all

I have bought a new GeForce 286GTX and included was Assassin's Creed. I have updated everything (Patches, Drivers, DirectX, etc.)
The game runs fine only the shadows are moving really wired and in no relation my character moves.
The options ingame do not change anything, execpt shadows off, but this is not the solution
I have also tried to force some settings with nHancer, but also no luck.

The game runs really fine, no crashes or other graphical issues, just this shadows...
There is also no heating or power issue.

    Systeminfo:
    Intel E8500 Core2
    Nvidia 285GTX (1024MB)
    4GB DDR2 Memory
    WinXP

Here two screenshots for better understanding.
My charater has moved about 30cm ingame, now check the shadows at the wall and the big bush on the right side.

I would be grateful, if anybody have an idea what could cause such an behavior.

This should be posted in technical support, and maybe make the images a little smaller. For my part, I'd say try re-installing it. Does it only happen in Masyaf or everywhere else too?

    It happens everywhere -.-
If I jump off the observation towers the shadows move everywhere in millisecond steps.

Sorry, posted it in the wrong forum, maybe a mod can move it to the other forum.

Character shadows seem fine to me, world shadows seem to be the problem, have you tried changing the refresh rate? Or the resolution?

    Yes, latest drivers.
Change resolution or refresh rate, changes nothing.

I have uploaded a short video:

No, I have no third party mods installed. Other games with shadows enabled do not have this issue.
The interesting is, that shadows of my chracter and npcs are correct. The shadows from static objetcs are also fine, but the shadows on static objects are moving.

    /solved

The nvidia graphic card driver was the problem -.-
I have downgraded the driver from 186.18 (latest) to 185.85 and now all looks fine.
