This has been hashed out on dozens of threads already in the past month.

I realize this. Perhaps I was being way too subtle, but I was going against all these people who want the resolution changeable.

You know, just to be an azzhole.

I personally am very happy having the resolution the way it is and don't really understand those people who want to make it different (with the exception of those who need to changed for technical reasons like having widescreen monitors and stuff).

It's called being ironic, dude. Lighten up a bit, huh?

I'm fine with it as it is.

When the screenshots were released everyone was 'wow, gosh.. the graphics look awesome!'

Then people find out about the rez and want it higher because it 'could' be higher.

Same with FPS. I'm sure there are people who play a game and are perfectly happy with it.. then they decide to display it's FPS and can't help themselves spending the next 6 months trying to raise it to what someone on a forum claimed they could get with a computer less powerful.

I can understand it.. but I wish people would concentrate on what they can see, rather than what stats are telling them. Sometimes they don't see the wood for the tree's.

I came from the ancient days where gameplay was far more important than graphics -- cause there weren't any. Text based games were the way to go. Then, for a long time, graphics were pretty awful (anyone remember SH1?), so the same rules applied. I still fall into that category of people (who seem to be shrinking, unfortunately) that thinks that graphics should take a side-seat to gameplay.

Thus, the fact that I can't affect the resolution bothers me none. Thus, I decided to be ironic, which my tomato attacking friend doesn't seem to see.

    No offense, of course.

Why should I lighten up? I'm the 'resident' @sshole, at least according to some, but I ignore them most of the time.
'Way too subtle'? How about nothing but. Maybe that's why your irony didn't show. That's why I replied as I did.

    Keep trying. You'll get there.

I want a higher resolution so that I could operate at native LCD resolution (not necessarily a wide screen). That's pretty much it, as I'm a firm believer in FSAA and what it can accomplish. I'm 99% sure that if I were a CRT owner I wouldn't be complaining so much.

I understand this -- thus I gave that option.

I'm all about res changes for technical reasons. I just am getting annoyed with people who want to change the resolution 'cause they feel they should be able to change it to 10000000 x 6000000 or whatever.

And btw -- being an azzhole isn't in my genetics, so I am often rather bad at it if I don't really really try. Sorry.

I'll have to take some lessons from you, if you're the resident azzhole, tomatoeman.

I can understand their reasoning for the higher resolutions...If it would kill even high-end machines to run it higher then so be it. But for those of us who want 800x600 -and there seem to be quite a few (some over at subsim.com are trying to figure out if it is possible too), this reasoning isn't exactly valid...the ingame text isnt so tiny so as to be illegible at 800x600 either.

I want so badly to run it on my 36inch 800x600 display as I do with all my other titles. I can even get by with a 1024x768 (or 1024x800 or whatever it really is) pre-game menu as long as the ingame is at 800x600.

    Wishful thinking I guess.
