Experimental Summary Installment 1.00

The Mystery of the Bahro Caves being over all of three minutes, Professor Thietris T. Squirrel invites everyone old and new alike to join him at a new Neighborhood. Here at the Institution of Advanced Exploration of Myst Worlds, explorers, scientists, and just about everyone else are welcome to gather, converse, examine and explore the many ages of Myst and Beyond. Various people wander in, greet each other, and have Acorn Meads.

Elkae sends Hungarian almond mead for the professor and a dozen red roses for Cordelia. No signature needed.

Cordelia confirms with a nice picture of a floating beachball that "of course Eddie is here" in response to HannaGertie's question. She also becomes Thietris's Personal Assistant and professional peddler of diverse and adaptable umbrellas.

The professor installs an umbrella stand next to the Nexus book. He makes sure everyone knows his office will be in the classroom. Speedy turns up as a clone from the A&C's Speedy. Finally, after much discussion and a good cleaning to get the bubble bath out, the fountain is turned on.

Within a room recently opened, Grizz sets up the D'ni Cavern Supply. It has everything a forumite could need (and if it doesn't have it, you don't need it) and is always open. Just at the moment, it isn't open.

Dr. Phineus Warrell, Ph.D, a scholar, researcher, and theorist, not to mention highly nervous around women, wanders in and hands Cordie a note for Thietris. He's been sent by M.I.T. to investigate the strange occurrances in the area (as if anyone could call us strange! Really!). He is shocked by the talking blue stork and dumbfounded by the talking squirrel. He suspects pranks and medication (one suspects pranks and medication before he came here).

Elkae continues to send notes from the Surface.

Stellaflora sets up his lab. He puts a purple Age & Country Hotel Linking Book in the Nexus linking chamber before Speedy introduces Dr. Warrell to him. Shiloh, returning medic, geologist, and all-around crystal enthusiast, introduces herself and George the Giant Squee to Warrell before carrying their crystals off to set up as a display. By this time, Dr. Warrell is nearly catatonic.

Kestryll splashes down (literally) and offers his services a caterer for the egg room, which is quickly turning into somewhat of a resteraunt.

Thietris becomes very upset with Mr Deitch for intercepting private KI messages, sending more KI messages to people without KI's, and messing with Grizz's head when the KI messaging system does not, in fact, work. He then links to the Rainy Cleft and has a rather one-sided and hopeless telephone conversation with Elkae Knutsson's mother.

Meanwhile in the Grand Canyon, Elkae is getting bored.

Back in the Cavern, Speedy and Grassie the ferret give Dr. Warrell an overload of information then an overload of acorn mead. Kuhlade links in from the cliffs of Kemo and drops off a smelly Keanulint in a crate.

FrontMullet seems to have recovered nicely from his summarization of the Mystery of the Bahro Caves, and is now tackling the problem of the loss of communication by KI, which is an annoyance to the trepid explorers.

RW shows up, looking for his lost Fire Stone which, unfortunatley, Grizz has not seen.

Enter Veronica Fairchild. Daughter of wealth. Lady of aristocracy. Bull in a china shop. In need of new shoes.

The (what seems to be) next morning, Dr. Warrell wakes up and appears to be adjustinf fairly well. TLG comes in and sets up his Heek Inc. near the Light Garden. Much to Cordie's chagrin, he has removed Shiloh's crystal display. On her way to check out the overnight appearance, Cordelia has a run-in with Veronica who is still on her shoe mission. Nica does not seem at all pleased with the suggestion of wellington boots.

Back in the Grand Canyon, Elkae continues to receive odd phone calls.

Veronica seems to be closer to her goal in her quest for Gucci. Unfortunately, Grizz does not seem to be cooperating. Not unless she wants to wear hinking boots and no longer be considered a VIP.

Elkae in the Canyon gets another call and converses in quite nearly continuous 'k' sounds about a Kemo Keanulint in a crate (or was it a cooler of Kool-Aid?), and giving Cordelia suggestions of how to clean, carress, care for, and keep it.

Veronica finally (and a little reluctantly) gets a job as Grizz's assistant store manager. She does not, however, get shoes, although no one seems to notice this.

All of Elkae's calls today are consisting of nearly constant 'k' consonants and continue to make little sense, as they are also very one-sided conversations.

Well that's it for X Summary 1.00
Next time on Experimental Summaries: Will the plot ever pick up? Will Elkae come home? Will-
Will you shut up? You're camera crew, Tora 2, I'm the announcer! *glares*
Oh. Right. Sorry. *giggles*

"I never did get my new shoes, did I?!!" She storms off. "Well, we'll just see about that!"

Actually I think Veronica's now wearing wellies out in the mud Below Relto.
I'm sure she got shoes sometime before that. Especially if she got her own Relto. By the way, when did you dye your hair purple?

Speedy, since this is a summary thread, I see no reason why Tora cannot post her summaries as they are completed, whether or not there have been commentary posts in between. In fact, I did not enter a comment earlier because I thought it would be good to let the summary continue uninterrupted. I PT'd my comments to her, which were essentially, "excellent job, you have a real talent for this!"

Keep up the good work, Tora!

From what Speedy posted about double posting doesn't that mean Tora will need someone to post something in between her posts?? (Was that too many posts? lol).

Or, she can have one super-dooper-extra-long edited post

I think in a thread like this, the double-posting ban should be suspended. Maybe I'm wrong, but if Tora prepares a chunk of summary, she should be able to post it, here in the summary thread, regardless of what's gone before. This, in my mind, is a special kind of thread, dedicated to a particular purpose (which we've all kind of side-swiped). A double-post here isn't spamming; Tora is performing a service to the community.

A "super-dooper-extra-long edited post" isn't necessarily the answer, either. If the summaries are posted in logical divisions -- "chapters," if you will -- it does the reader no service to artificially combine them. And it's nice to have stopping places if you're reading something long.

Function over form should be the order of the day here.

IMHO.
