Thread: PC Splinter Cell Chaos Theory Versus - Red light / ATI graphics problem | Forums

  1. #1
Has anyone experienced the red light issue already in SCCT Versus? All the lights that have been mentioned to not appear for Nvidia 8800 users seem to appear as red light with an ATI Radeon HD 3850.

This problem is especially anoying for the mercs flashlight, because it's illumination area is much smaller.

Can anyone please confirm this problem and maybe even give a solution to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

    System info:
    INTEL Core2Duo E6750
ATI Radeon HD 3850 (with latest drivers)
Windows XP PRO SP2 (up to date)

There is no solution know of yet. ATI will have to release a new driver that is compatable with the lighting in the game and that isn't too likely to happen anytime soon.

    Thnx for the reply Boobisphere!

Is it known already which gfx cards this problem applies to? (can anyone maybe post a link to some website about this?)

And has that lighting issue for the Nvidia 8800 been resolved already?

To mods: isn't this info that should be as a sticky somewhere or something? People are still buying this game, and even though it's really cheap, they need to be able to find easily if their system would run it without issues like this or not, right?

You are right it should be stickied but it isn't likely to happen.

As far as i know there are no solutions for either of the problems with ATI or nVidia. I think the 7xxx series of nVidia cards still worked if you used really old drivers but the ATI cards worked up to the 2xxx series with up to date drivers.

Undoubtfully better than no lights like Nvidia bug. Like I said, the only problem is the Mercs flashlight which normally already has a small area of illumination, but now it's even worse.

If only people would let me play as spy all the time ;-)

By the way, my point was not to ***** about this graphical issue, but just to get it out in the open that it is a known problem for which there is as of yet, and probably never will be, any fix.

To round it up, here is a reaction from the UBI technical support:

"Unfortunately, the Ati HD series is not supported for use with the game. We can notify the developers and ATI about the issue, but it's extremely unlikely that support for more modern cards will be added to the game."

I've got a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. I have no red light at all. Is there nothing that can be done?
I saw someone posted a fix here:
    http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...981002036#7981002036
But at the end they say: "Now all ATI users propobly are covering bloodish - red on their faces"
Which sounds like the fix is not for me.

Give me a second to boot it up on my 3850. I can check if there is red light, and then if the fix program fixes it.

EDIT: after testing and getting no lights in SvM, I used 3d analyzer and got perfect lights.

I'm getting an error when I try to open the batch file in the versus system folder.

Sorry, nvm, I got it working after running the batch file by right clicking as an Admin. Damn you Vista. lol

THanks so much for all your help, btw I reinstalled SCCT and installed it in XP compatibility mode to get it working finally.
