Thread: To be a pure action shooter or to be a great military simulator, that is a question.. | Forums

    Three wishes about BIA, if it is a land warfare sim(such as OPF,AA,GR/R6):

    1. A CLOSE COMBAT in "FPS" style (tactical);
    2. It has a mission editor,or good planner;
    3. It has modern combat mod...

    I mean I hope BIA will be not only a pure action shooter(COD,BF42...),but a great military simulator(OFP,AA...)

    btw,will smoke be included in game? such as CC...

    cheers

    I personally don't like the types of games that you graphically represent above. Just doesn't do it for me... You're too far removed from it all.
    BIA will be at ground level, first person perspective, and it looks great. I'm sure smoke grenades will be available (hopefully the regular fragmentation and smoke grenades will be LIMITED in quantities).

    This game will have smoke grenades. I have seen some vids(BIA) where soldiers charge through smoke. Also, this game will require the use of tactics to survive and succeed. However, the interphase will be simple and anyone could do it. Btw, there is an Authentic mode that will be very realistic.

    If you are looking for modern combat..you are in the wrong forums. Check out Counter Strike or some others. There are far more modern combat games than WWII out right now. Anywho, I do wish it focuses more on the FPS style than any other.

    Too far removed... far more modern combat games... EH?! Have I slipped into an alternate dimension?

    I don't really have any wishes for BIA. But with several games coming out up 'til Christmas that I want, I hope BIA is a long time off. I'll be too pre-occupied with Sid Meyer's Pirates! Aargh!

    khehe,I just hope BIA will not be designed as one of those stupid ACTION/ARCADE SHOOTERs(COD,MOHAA,CS and other tools just for quick killing men..) for kids which I will never touch.

    OK, if it doesn't support MODs developing (why NOT for a great mil-sim???),at least it should have a good mission planer or editor because it is a tactical sim, and you will find good military simulators all has them except UNEDITABLE Hidden and Dangerous.

    There is NO WWII based 3D military SIMULATORs about INFANTRY in the world now (COD is GAME!), so I expect BIA so much, I hope it will become the FIRST one, yes, the first one!

    cheers!

    I assure you that BIA will not be pure shooting, nor will it be pure boring, us at the gearbox forums have spoken with game devs a number of times and they have assured us that it will be as authentic as possible and as fun as possible. leading a squad, blowing nazis into itty bitty peices, how could it not be fun?

    If it's done correctly, this game will be exciting from the word GO shooting or not.... Think about it, it's June 6th, 1944 and you're floating down into German held territory on the Carentan peninsula, France.

    I would strongly suggest you try the demos out for Hidden & Dangerous 2, a great squad based tactical combat game about the SAS in WW2. It is the best WW2 tactical FPS I have played and the only game I like besides Ghost Recon.

    With the proper modding tools, this game could be modded for another scenario, while utilizing the excellent game and squad structure. Close Combat First To Fight is an example of a similar game with a similar squad structure, based on a future combat scenario in Beirut.
