Hello,
today I had an idea for better frontlines. If you fly now over a frontline, there is
1. nothing
or
2. there are tanks and vehicles and the mission is nearly unplayable if there are many of them. With fewer vehicles everything is unrealistic and quiet.
So I had the idea that you could add an option which adds random explosions in an area (Like when a gun shoots at the earth). So you could fly over the frontline and see explosions under you which would look very realistic.
It would be more framerate-friendly because there needn't be vehicles.
What do you think of my idea?
A frontline with explosins and a few vehicles looks much better than just a line through an empty landscape.

Interesting ideas.
I would prefer real vehicles, although, combat between them could be done statistically, without having to calculate every ground-ground shell trajectory if that is what is happening. -*- But you are right, their must be a real frontline. I would like a frontline extending well beyond the player's waypoint routes, over the map if possible, and this is one method it *might* can be done. I dunno.

Hello,
you could add static vehicles between these random explosions, but that would cause a decrease in FPS. But maybe the vehicles are also added randomly and aren't rendered all the time (your PC should just calculate vehicles you can see. If you fly to a different area it adds vehicles there and delete the ones you saw before and places new vehicles there when you fly over them again.) But I think that wouldn't be too good for FPS, too, so the random explosions I suggested would be a good compromise between the look of a frontline and the performance.
Shall I suggest this in ORR?

I'm thinking new ground terrain for the frontlines. The landscape looks like one big friggin' golfcourse...
