Thread: Is it possible to tweak Iron Wrath? | Forums

  1. #1
    I was hoping there was something you could do to tweak Iron Wrath because it doesn't run very well on my machine.

    Intel P4 2.8GHz Processor
    Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB

    I get an average of 30-35 FPS on all the new maps. In Raven Shield on the regular maps I get around 60-70 FPS on average.

    Is there anything I can do?

    Are the maps bigger? I don't know, since I'm downloading the thing still...

    Yeah most of the maps are bigger than the ones in Raven Shield... That's probably the biggest cause for the FPS drop, especially in big open areas.

    ...I don't know, but everyone seems to be having performance drops with Iron Wrath--with the exception of those who have top-of-the-line systems.

    Hopefully they'll be able to patch it and help out with that a little bit.

    go to the Iron Wrath Mod folder open the ironwrath.mod file with editor and change the cachesize meg as it is done in the Ravenshield.mod file

    CacheSizeMegs=*****

    Please note that ***** will not appear in your version, this is the bit we want to change, and it usually states 32mb, the change is dependant on the amount of system RAM you have got, please use the following table to determine what size to input.
    System Memory-----Setting to change

    128mb--------------32mb
    256mb--------------32mb or 64mb
    384mb--------------64mb
    512mb--------------96mb or 128mb
    640mb--------------128mb
    768mb--------------128mb or 256mb
    1024mb-------------256mb or 384mb

    http://unreal2k3.co.uk/tuts/simple/index.htm#cache

    [Engine.GameEngine] is for the Game
    [Editor.EditorEngine] is for UnrealEd

    IMPORTANT!

    The Value CacheSizeMegs is since Patch 1.4 located in the Ravenshield.ini,
    BUT the USED Value is located in the ravenshield.mod !!!!!!!!!
    rvs/mods/ravenshield.mod

    I don't have a IronWrath.mod file... Do I add:

    [Engine.GameEngine]
    CacheSizeMegs=128

    to my IronWrath config file?

    It's located in the mods folder.

    You can find more tweaks in the Tweaking RavenShield sticky in Communty Help, this one too. I added the .mod entires too, but not really 100% that it makes a differnce, as much as ppl want it to. Often when you want something to increase performance, the placebo effect comes into effect.

    If you go into console and press Preferences, in-game and alter the CacheSizeMegs value it stil alters the 'old' value for some reason, if I remember correctly.

    The settings on CacheSizeMegs I have posted in the Tweaking RavenShield, are lower than what Crushda has posted. The reason is that different Unreal gameversions have different recommendations.
    Try different values and see what works best, but if you really want to be sure there's a difference you will have to benchmark e.g. with Fraps, but hard to do as there's no Demo/Benchmark in RvS.
