I think Bearcat posted about this one a while ago. Well, I finally got around to seeing it and can thoroughly recommend it. A very well told tale, beautifully filmed and well-acted that chronicles the story of Algerian troops in French service during WWII. An important story and a refreshing change from much of what has gone before in a some would say overdone genre.

Band of Brothers with muslim heroes - so what's the problem? Give it a go, I say. You'll meet characters you'll find hard to forget and witness a very unglamourous final shoot-out with a "Please live through this" effect that rarely engages me in other films. Much more than a good war movie. French with English subtitles. 'Making of...' + historical documentary + interviews with director features included.

I repeat, give it a go.

Anyone else spotted goodies in the post-Chrimbo panic sales?
