Thread: NVidia problem - Black Water | Forums

  1. #1
Hi All and thanks for reading.

I have just upgraded from ATI Radeon x800GTO to NVIDIA 7950GT. With my old ATI, the game ran fine in PERFECT mode, however now the water is just one big black mass (all altitudes). The picture says it all:

I have searched the forums but could not find the solution to this problem. I am using the latest NVidia drivers and tried setting water from 0 to 3 in config.ini file.
If this problem has already been posted, I apologize for not finding it, could you please provide the link?

    Thank you!

Try going into IL2 Setup which is inside your games main folder, select the Video tab & select the best line of nVidia cards in the list. Then run the game and see if this helped.

I have a Leadtek 7950 and I'm using DiamonSyrius' set up, works great! You can find his set up at the following link, it's the seventh post down from the top.

    Thanks for the replies gents!

HH > Yah I'm a dumb@ss. I've switched to NVidia settings in IL-2 SETUP and now I have water textures.
However, if I set water to "3" in congig.ini, I'm getting weired dark circles and texture tearing on the water directly below the aircraft. I can fly with water set to "2" for now and will follow STANSDDS' link to see if I can tweak my settings for proper utilization of my 7950.

    Thank you!

The black arc is a graphics bug that has been a PIA for quite sometime now. The only drivers I know of that gets rid of it are the 96.89's hosted by Grur3D.

To get rid of the tearing enable Vertical Sync. Enable Triple Buffering also.

If you go with the 96.89's at Guru3D you will be able to run Water=3 or 4 without any black circles\arc.

I use NGO 97.92 and there is no black arc on the water. I think 96.89 was the first driver after the 84 series to address this issue.
