Just tried first minutes of playing. So strange. I thought, that those idiotes, who killed Driv3r with all that gameplay specialities, were fired from Reflections team, because next game was really good. But looks like, they appeared here again. No words about idiotic flying... but for what that restricted zones? For what all unnatural, absurd inventions? Is it so difficult to understand, that good game is first of all a NATURAL game, at least if its at Earth and in real city?
And, not less important... no support for Logitech standart wheel... in past millenium first game it was exellent wheel support, in previous - may be, best of all. And it killed - for what?.. Really, ill by head people taked power again in Reflections team...

Most of what you said is really hard to understand, but I'm guessing you're complaining about not being able to explore the whole map. Go farther in the story. And by flying you mean shift? It's not that bad, it's pretty good actually.

It's a video game. It doesn't have to be 100% realistic unless it WANTS and TRIES to be (Like Forza).

Yeah, it's not exactly like Driver 1, but it's a video game and video games evolve (for better or worse) and change over time. Just look at Mario over the years. The funnest parts of this game were the parts built around the shift feature!

This game would be much harder (and pointless) on a wheel. Period.

I think he is French (At least the title and his username seem to be French), so that might be why his english probably isn't perfect.

I want to say simply things. All knows well, that Driver 3 was damned because its gameplay was overloaded with a range of annoying and strange features.
On the other hand, in Driver 4 such problem is not present: here all easy, comfortable, merry. Very nice driving, unobtrusive missions, pleasant city and so on.
But now again we see Driver 3, second appearance. Looks like, people, who spoiled old game, taked power in Reflections team again. Idea of this classic series is quite realistic. Here we have to sense ourselves as dashing driver, serious cop. And decorations immerse us into environment of real life, not somewhat far galaxy. So, in ideal case we must in some moment forgot, that its simply a fiction, sense pulse of real struggle.
But with this idiotic "shift" they attaches DOUBLE virtualisation. Its really too mush. They trying to compete with Wheelman, with those exellent Diesei's jumps from car to car, but they lose just at start. Idea of coma and dreaming flying is too unnatural, it destroys sense of life in the game.

And if just during mission we suddenly see red bars, appearing across the streets without any real need, it destroys all game process. We see again, that its a simply forgery, somewhat far-fetched. And those guys dont understand, that its bad.
I tried first mission "lose cops" - and what I see? Again, like in that Driv3r, police cars attached to you like somewhat tail or even scut. They goes twice faster, than your car, they makes any maneuver better, than you can, they returnes to the road after crash in a moment. For the rest of all, they goes by some invisible railway, no real interaction with them, because its very difficult to bring them down from this rail. They beats you and twist you, but you cannot stop them, cannot shoot, cannot make real damage. Problem is not that its too hard, but that its unnatural. Not skills needed, but simply luck for lose them in some moment. Where here fun? And its, I repeat, from Driver 3, not 4, where all was much better. So, time is to fire those guys, who spoiled game after encouraging Parallel Lines project. Even picture looks worse, somewhat dark, wearing.
And about wheel. No real necessity to refuse wheell support. I play with xpadder emulator, and just it is not fatal for game process. As for me, I simply cannot drive car with buttons. And its strange in game named "Driver" with such great traditions. But since in menu we see both "gamepad" and "wheel", I hope, that later they will make wheel support (although now my Driving Force GT detected as gamepad - really strange).

The cops aren't that hard to lose in this game. If you have a full bar of boost you can easily get away by going into alleys and off-road. You can also use shift to kill them with cars.

And this game isn't meant to be realistic. It's an arcade driving game, not a sim like Forza or GT. And it's fun this way.

I never had any trouble with the cops. Sure, it took some good driving to get away, but it was never impossible. I think they caught me twice during the entire game.

It's not based on luck... Just swerve through traffic, and they crash and you escape. They are as difficult as they would be in real life (well, Maybe a little easier. lol).

But I just want to say, that city is exellent, unbelievable. Best ever. GTA really sucks. The game is great anyway...
