    how does the axis icon work? even when i manage too get it centerd on the train and turn the icon using number pad still cant get the train turned too match the track.

    By "axis icon" I assume you're referring to the green-&-red icon you get when moving about the map in 3D mode. This is used for viewing things from the 3D perspective, not controlling objects. When you want to orient an object, say a train in this case, you need to know two things:

    One, it only works on stationary objects, not objects that will move and follow a route, so select a stationary train object. A moving vehicle, be it ship, tank, truck, convoy or train will self-align and follow the path between points.

    Two, you must have control of the object (denoted by its icon flashing). Then you can use the number pad keys to align the object in the direction of your choosing. Note that you can also use your mouse buttons to move all around the selected object in 3D, but you will not see the "axis icon" when controlling an object.
