So i turn on my computer and click on firefox to start my usual browsing. I quit after a while and then come back a short time later and try to run firefox but this little box pops up and says something along th lines of "which firefox user profile do you want to use" i see only default user in the list of options so i click that, but it says something like "this user is still running firefox use another" So i create another one cos i couldnt use the default one, but now all my bookmarks and history has gone with the default profile and im just wondering how to change back?

That means that firefox had an error while you were browsing. I had that same thing a couple of times. I restarted my computer and that fixed the problem.

I had that problem also. I Ctrl-Alt-Del and look for firefox.exe under the "Processes" tab and click the "End Process" button. Of course restarting computer will do the same thing.

Nope not working, it still has the new user profile I want my old one back

Go to start--> run

Type this firefox.exe -profilemanager

Press OK

That just opens firefox but it doesnt let me choose to change profiles

make sure you have completly exited Firefox before starting profile manager.

See if it works in Safe Mode (should be able to get there from the Start menu).

My firefox works fine its just the user profile thats changed, wchih means that ive lost all my bookmarks etc...
