EVGA 780i motherboard. Creative Xfi soundcard. I was wondering if there are any known conflicts between "Realtek" and "Creative" and/or is realtek necessary? Realtek came with the motherboard. But I'm used to using Creative. For my music sound shaping recordeing.

Go into your BIOS and disable the on-board sound, end of problem.

No sound at all, not just in FB? Please Run (a) dxdiag and Save All Information , copy & paste the results here. Remember to run the tests Direct sound and Direct music first.

Check to see if you have installed the Creative Audio Console.

I tried another slot on my motherboard and the soundcard failed, so I'm afraid it's the card that's at fault.
