Thread: Modding and Map Editor Help | Forums

  1. #1
I've done some hunting and from what I can tell, the latest Splinter Cell game to have a map editor is Chaos Theory.

    1) Will Conviction have a map editor?
    2) Does Double Agent have a map editor?
    3) How can I replace the Sam mesh with my own model for use in Custom Chaos theory maps?

I have an idea for a personal project that is not well suited for the editors I'm familiar with (Unreal 3, Crysis Sandbox), but some of the mechanics of Splinter Cell fit very well. Any help would be appreciated.

    1) Nobody outside Ubi knows.

    2) No.

    3) No idea if it's even possible without some hacking of the editor.

By the way, CT is a multiplayer editor, not single player. It's also a modifed Unreal Editor, not a new one.

Hmmm, that's kind of what I thought (about CT being unreal ed.)

I just figured I'd be nice to work with the CT editor, vs trying to make all the the sleuthing mechanics from scratch in UT3.

    Any other ideas?

    @ kickinstuff13:

Well, I know all Splinter Cell games have been made with a heavily modified Unreal Engine. So is ConViction.

And replacing the Sam mesh would be awesome! That means you can use the Sam mesh either way you want!:P The first SC has been made in 3Ds Max

Considering the UE I would guess that it should have a map editor.

I highly doubt DA is gonna get any type of support anymore. I would play CT but people are never on when I am. All I do now is play online co-op with my friends. That's if the lag isn't acting up.

It's worth mentioning that Double Agent does have a map editor that was accidentally released. It is the full blown in house editor used to create the worlds, levels, special effects etc.

However, Ubisoft official release of Double Agent uses a proprietary file system that places all the Unreal Engine files into one file. This causes the editor not to work.

If someone took the time to extract the Unreal Engine files (are located all inside one huge file, not encrypted) the editor would work, and could bring more life to DA.

    ...just a thought.

Those guys at Project Stealth would have done this a long time ago.
