Thread: Estimated System Requirements | Forums

  1. #1
These are some estimated system requirements based on information gathered by interviews, previews, and news.

Where is this information coming from?
    - The GC 07 demo was running on a beefed up Core 2 Duo and an 8800. This was a pre-alpha showing meaning that the game will be even more optimized by the time it is released.
    - Clint Hocking (Creative Director) stated that the game will run on a fast single core cpu and a strong DX9 graphics card
    - Far Cry 2 seems to be in line with the estimated requirements for Crysis

    High Requirements
    CPU: E6600 Core 2 Duo
    Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS
    RAM: 2GB
    Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
    Optical Drive: DVD Drive

    Minimum Requirements
    CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
    RAM: 1GB
    Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
    Optical Drive: DVD Drive

    Recommended Requirements
    CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GT or ATI X1800XL Pro (SM 3.0)
    RAM: 2GB+
    Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
    Optical Drive: DVD Drive

Would imagine the high specs will be considerablly higher, but from watching the interview id say the min specs look about right.. maybe a better gpu tho

Usually, high specs is what ever is the best hardware at the time. I have recommended specs right now, but I know that will mean turning off a lot of eye candy, AA/AF and less than highest resolution.

For Far Cry, high spec was 3.0 GHz Intel processor or 3000+ AMD, 1 GB RAM, DX9 vid card with 128 MB memory (~9800 pro). It did not get higher when new stuff came out.

Well I was just assuming that since the GC07 demonstration was running on a Core 2 Duo and an 8800 that by the time the game is released those will be the high-max settings.

    hi !
i have almost the same system and can run Bioshock without any problems. although i got an Geforce7800GTX and no 8500GT...
    are you sure about the vga ? isn't it a 8600 ?
i think crysis and fc2 will run on it as well.

Oh well... Looks like I'll have to wait until 2009 to play Far Cry 2...

I was hoping that I'd meet the minimum reqs with this laptop, but it appears not. It'll be 2 years before I allow myself to spend more than $1000 on a computer...

Stupid college... It's a money sink.
