i would like to know what year...


the first version of the m16 was tested

not when the ak47 was produced (duh) but when it was tested

when the new m8 will be adopted (estimated)

Early 1960 for the M16. Curtiss Lamay test fired one in June of that year and in December of the previous year, the production rights of the AR-15 were sold to Colt.

since production started on the ak-47 in 1947, you would have to say that year..I haven't found anything that says "test date" specifically.


XM8 has been formally suspended since Oct of this year

i have a book called "small arms" by Martin J. Dougherty. according to him, the m16 has been in production since 1959...
