Will UT2007 run as badly as RB6:Vegas? | Forums

Quick question because I'm thinking of upgrading after playing Rainbow Six Vegs. Will UT2007 require just as much hardware or will it run smoother since its made for a PC rather than made for Xbox 360 and ported to PC?

I doubt it, it's not a port to pc game.

its doubtfull since epic are the people who made the unreal engien hell its even named UNREAL but seriously when ut2k4 released they had the sads out a week prior and the only patch im aware of was to fix stuff made by the community and yeah hes right its not a port

besides when it comes to programming for multiplayer epic > ubi

I agree. EPIC have always shown sincerity towards the PC community. They aren't like Ubi, thank god.

i bet the UT3 will have a much better graphics than vegas and run much much smoother.
if u think about upgrading cuz of UT3 than i advise u to wait and see if u really need to.
ATI's dx10 cards are around the corner (r600 i think their name is) and even though they will be pricy, they are probably worth the wait.

also vegas is an bad example of a game. u shouldnt judge by it if your card is up to par or not.

thats quite funny because i decided after seeing Vegas that maybe the Unreal3 engine wouldnt be too great for a future mod project for my university class (because of all the slow downs etc), so we switched to Crytek2.

i was reconsidering buying UT2007 for the point that Epic are pretty good for performance mixed with graphics, so my opinion would be UT2007 will perform better.

Epic has a way of optimizing there graphics engine to make mid level PC'S run there games great.Heck UT 2004 runs pretty solid on a geforce 4 mx card even.I realize this is an upgraded engine but epic=>UBI when it comes to customer support

According to me, Epic always makes 'the worst' games to showcase their own engines. But I can tell that Epic's PC games run flawlessly on every PC unlike UBI's games.

Vegas and RoboBlitz (2 unreal 3 PC games) are really crappy examples of Unreal 3, esp. with blurry textures and all. I think the REAL unreal 3 games will start coming after Unreal 3 and when they license the engine to other developers after Unreal 3 release.

Either way, I still consider Quake Wars and Crysis engine to be far more advance than Unreal 3, esp. Quake Wars with Megatexture.

iD software at the moment is working their original IP with the updated version of the Quake Wars tech and I am dying to play THAT game over Crysis and Unreal 3 anything even before any updates are out..
