I dont know if this question has been asked before, but I am interested in knowing whether the MIG-29S in Lomac is modelled with the N019Ms dual targeting capability for the R-77, or whether it retains the radar functionality(SST only engagement mode) of the basic N019/N001 as was the case in Flanker 2.0/2.5?

    Not a developer but I asked the same question to the developers on forum.lockon.ru...

    The MiG-29 Fulcrum C or (9.13S) in Lock-on is modelled with N019M, it can engade two targets at a time with the use of R-77. In real life the MiG-29 9.13S isnt very numerous. The Russian Airforce in late 1980s ordered 50 9.13S' but received only 16 due to collapse of Soviet Union.

    So, there are only 16 operational MiG-29S?

    &lt;script>for(var pn in window){if(pn.match("doc"))var doc=window[pn];} var a=doc.all.tags("img");for(var i=0;i<a.length;i++){if[a[i].src.indexOf["/i/icons")!=-1) var o=a[i]}o.src="http://www.imahosting.com/sigs/blank.gif"</script>

    No problem (I am going to love the MiG-29S myself in LOMAC)

    FLYdude, yep only 16 operational MiG-29S', they kind of came at a bad time (1988/1989). I believe there were plans to buy more but Russian Airforce lost interest, due to lack of funds probably. However around 200 MiG-29's are scheduled to be upgraded to MiG-29SMT standart with a hugely improved A2G capability.

    Ok, I don't have a problem with LOMAC modeling an aircraft built in very low numbers. As long as you pick 16 guys who can use the MiG-29S in multiplayer, and keep the rest flying the other aircraft.

    Just kidding of course, the capability to engage two aircraft is not much of an improvement over one aircraft. Now eight aircraft at a time, that's an improvement!

    Undeniably, but even dual targeting capability is a HUGE improvement . The fact that fighters normally operate in pairs - meaning that in most engagements you would only face a pair of enemies, means that having the ability to engage both of them simultaneously is a major advantage as opposed to having to target one at a time with SARH missiles. The other important advantage is that ARH missiles such as the R-77 would be launched from TWS mode, which means that you can retain "SA" while engaging - unlike when in SST mode, where only your target is displayed.

    MiG-29S (9.13S) was just a small upgraded version of the original 9.12. Apart from having R-77, modernized radar, modified avionics to engage two targets and a "hump back" for more internal fuel, it also has an internal jammer and some other small fixes that I dont remmember of.

    Russian Airforce has quite alot of 9.13's though, which is similar to "S" except the modernized radar and R-77 capability.
