Uru won't auto update! | Forums

I can play Uru fine. I can even upodate to fix that puzzle that isn't working in single player(the hexegon piller one). But now, when I auto update, the program updates and closes about 3 times, then when it gets to the part where it says "refreshing age list" it dies out with a windows "illigal operation" error. I can't update it through the program anymore!

Is there a patch I can update it with? Or perhaps some other problem?

I have windows XP running on a 3.06 Ghz processer, with 512 ram and a very fast(I think it's DSL) connection to the internet. I don't think it's my computer.

I was able to update before, so I don't know why it does this. Can someone help?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

I'm wondering if these ppl are running antivirus software....

No anti virus software. The connection is through a network straight to a central hub that all our computers connect through. When I update, nothing else is using it, and it stays connected all the time. It's the update program, not my connection or computer.

I tried reinstalling, but to no avail. When I update, it does a few updates right, then reaches the one that crashes.

My in game settings are a bit different then the default(I have the w,a,s,d keys move, and have tab swich first person-third person, but other then that it's all default). Could this cause a conflict?(though I don't see how)

Is there a fix to this at all? Can Ubisoft or Cyan answer me? Thanks in advance for any help or replies.

Same problem here. I have run a couple of successful updates but get a crash when refreshing age list.

I'm not in live, just playing solo. I also downloaded the 1.2 update and got the message saying it cant determine the version - only update 1.2 and below.

Q1 - how do I determine my current version? Perhaps I already 1.2 or greater?

Q2 - is there any further news of the crashes at refreshing age list stage?

Ah ha! I just tried again and it went through motions without crashing. Still no idea what version I'm running though. Can someone still tell me a) what is the latest version and b) how to tell what version I have? Thanks again.

ive got the exact smae problem, im not sure what version i haave since there are 2 different number types.
so very irritating

If you have already upgraded Uru via the update utility or by going to Prologue, the 1.2 upgrade is not applicable to you as you already have the latest upgrades.

Having the latest upgrades, when I run the upgrade executable (UruUpdate12.exe), the error message I get is:

"Setup was unable to detect the version of Uru - Ages Beyond Myst installed on your computer. This update will only install on Uru - Ages Beyond Myst version 1.2 or lower."
