Thread: F-15C Tutorial pdf! | Forums

  1. #1
After reading a lot of posts on this topic I discovered a lot of people aren't happy with the manual. There is a lot information missing. Which is true. But I also found out a lot of people apparently haven't done the in-game tutorials, because a lot of the 'missing' information can be found in those tutorials! These tutorials are VITAL! When you read the official manual and follow the tutorials you will find there actually isn't much information missing after all...

I bought Lock On mainly for the F-15C. I followed the VITAL F-15C tutorials, but I found out it's hard to remember everything, so I followed them again. And still I found out during my flights I forgot a lot. So I started making notes, but I ended up with a big chaos: lots of notes on lots of pieces of paper...

So I decided to make a document of the tutorial's text, which I could print and use as a reference during flying. Which is resulted in the Lock-On F-15C Tutorial.pdf.

But (warning!) this pdf is VERY simple! It only contains the text from the tutorials, which I edited a little (I removed things like 'To exit this mission press the 'ESC' key' and so on). So there are no pictures and no fancy stuff! I did however make all key commands red so you can find them easily (I noticed the some key commands are wrong or missing on the high-res key chart).

So, in order to benefit from this pdf you have to follow the F-15C tutorials! But after doing this ONCE you will know enough to understand this pdf: you will remember what is it all about. The pdf is nothing more than an easy to print backup which you can use while flying! That's all. But for me that's more than enough!

You can find the file on this 'site': http://www.geocities.com/jeroenlocke..._Tutorial.html

    Have fun.

Oh yes, one more thing... I hope I didn't do anything illegal by making this pdf available (for FREE). If so, please let me know instantly! I'm just trying to help, so...

Thanks, but I already solved it by making a 'site' with just a link: that works.

And for everyone who is afraid to download it because of it's size: it's only 48 Kb...

I've added a Lock-On_Keychart.pdf in the same fashion. Nothing new (and certainly not the first either): just the KeyCommands.doc restyled in the F-15 Tutorial style (well, as far as you can call it a style... )

A lot of people still use the Keychart which you can download from the LO-CAM site, which looks good, but is really useless because a LOT of keys aren't on it and some are just wrong...

So forget about that one and use the KeyCommands.doc (you can find it in your Lock-On directory) or use my pdf (which has everything nicely grouped). Print the pdf double sided on two A4 and you've got everything grouped nicely together, without that awfull are-we-back-in-the-eighties? document style.

BTW It contains a lot of extra info not found anywhere else: if everyone would have read the KeyCommands.doc right away a lot of questions wouldn't have been asked over here...!

BTW 2 I also think the downloadable Keychart has misleaded a lot of us, including me, because it made me think all the keys were on that downloadable chart! So I had lot's of problems with certain strange things happening due to the fact that I didn't know that I was acytally pressing keys with a function, if you know what I mean. There is also info about functions of certain keys which you will not find at all in the in game control option screen, like the Keypad 0-'any keypad number', whih let's you see quick close ups of the oancel. Fot instance.

    Thanks Jeroen.

Especially for the quick F-15C manual.

(Pity you cannot edit a post after 60 minutes anymore...)

What I forgot to say: don't forget that the F-15C BVR mode (specially the TWS mode!) and the AIM-120 don't work as they should! I advice you to stay away from them until they are patched. That will save you a lot of frustration (and I know what I'm talking about, believe me...!)
