I was just wondering if there's something wrong with my newest drivers, since not many people say that they hear what I describe. So I decided to record it for ye. I chose factory since it has the most echoing. Other maps ain't that bad. And on Warehouse the surround sound is so loud that spies actually have a chance(AND I've stopped hearing most stuff from across the map). Actually that's the reason for me to think that this is how the game is supposed to sound.

E.A.X. Drop the E add our mystery letter and...
H.A.X. Fixed Joking but what's this for again? If you're asking if it's normal EAX standard they yea I think so.

I had it back in PT but I just don't have the American ears for it so I can find a spy in the butt-end of the map from walking too fast.

    O< Whaaaack!

EAX from what i understand is supposed to give accurate atmospheric sounds. So if you're in a bathroom you'll get a lot of echoing and loud sharp noises. That imo is what EAX is designed for but due to this game having alot of audible sounds kind of gives a bit too much away. You need to record a new movie when you're a merc and a spy is doing similar things in a different area. See if you can hear cameras being shot etc.

I tried to compare and got same kind of results. There is a backround humming in main hall. Plus when you make metallic noises etc. it echoes for me too. When you are in smaller room or insinde a vent it doesn't echo like that. So I guess it is supposed to sound like that.

What soundcard do you have? Did this happen excatly after the update? How fresh drivers did you have before the update?

It's a crappy onboard Audigy AC97. I didn't expect it even to HAVE EAX support.

    Yes.

Fresh? I haven't touched them since first install. Good thing my brother decided to snoop around.

Well yes, and that IS what I'm getting now. Whereas before I wouldn't get all the echoing but whenever I turned EAX on I would be able to hear footsteps across the map etc.

    So to sum it up:
    Before - crooked evil EAX.
Now - A bit more realistic EAX.
