After watching Ubisoft's third Podcast and hearing the debate over letting your units live or die I want to get the community thoughts on the matter.

Will you let your enemy units survive? Or will you slay them where they stand?

Lets look at the pros and cons of killing units.
Pros: Force the player to rebuild their units.
Cons: Player may instantly call in a fresh unit. (Especially a gunship if you destoryed their unit with artillery!)

For me I am a man of honor, I shall let my enemies live so long as they do thusly. However if they try to kill my units then it's gloves off. Their units pay.

i am also a man of honor and i will always follow the art of war... if my enemy is so badly beat that i have the battle won i will let his units live... i would want others to do the same for me...

There has been a thread similar to this but I love these types of threads.

Whether I let an enemy survive and retreat depends on the situation. For example if we were struggling to hold the region we are fighting over I will destroy as much of the enemy as I can. Too make sure they can't come back for a second try.
But if the battle is not to important and my enemy has fought with honor and not caused to many fatalies to my men I will let the fall back. Honor and mercy is good and all but it doesn't win wars.

I would expect the same if I was retreating from them.

If a Spetsnaz soldier is fighting in another country - he should let surrendered enemy soldiers live.
If a Spetsnaz soldier is fighting on Mother Russias soil - it's death to all enemy agressors!

since when you use your WMD the enemy can use theirs, i would let my fresh recruits hold them off while the elite ones retreat, and then hit them with my WMD.

I would let the enemy units live even if they are at a very high level because it's not fun/fair to finsh off other people without a battle.

It depends really. If you're enemy is a jerk and trys to kill my units, I'll do the same to him. I'll target his best units with my WMD and relentlessly hunt them down.
