Shoot the members of the opposing team :-P

Well what you want to hear? Its an online shooter.
I think every one just trys all the stuff out and picks out for themselves what gear they like or play with best. How well you do online, is a question of skill and practise.
The only tips I could give would be, not to respond to incoming fire from cover position because its too slow and you will get shot, and to always aim for the head :-)

Stay away from the windows, i always get shot if i stand to the side of a window.
Don't throw a grenade at the spawn point like some newb did and blow up half your team, they don't like that.
Don't have ur speakers and mic on at the same time, sick and tired of muting people all the time.
Why do people think that we want to hear their game sound effects as well as our own?????

Play cautiously but don't back down from fights. Always stay offensive if you can. I'd say use the sounds to your advantage as in most FPS games that is a major part of easily beating people, but this games sounds are all screwed up.

Thermal is your friend, especially in villa, and other small maps.
The cover system is only to see who is around the corner, not to shoot. Get off it and just squeese into the opening then fire, a whole lot less area is exposed and it's less predictible.
Croutch works wonders. It'll give you a cursor and be more accurate.

I see mostly posts concerning the game.
If you are upgrading your computer, make sure you are meeting the requirements for Vegas 2.
One of the main issues is having a video card that supports shader 3.0.
If you have PCI-e that isn't a problem, but if you have AGP, your options are limited.
Just thought I would throw that in to maybe prevent a future problem for you.
