I have tried the 2900 by its self
    and in crossfire config.

    No luck at all
The feeling is the engine to run this sim
is just to old for the 2900
I'll keep trying them after each driver release
    but not much hope!

Yea. Agreed. I had the same experience. I finally sold mine & purchased a X1950XTX Crossfire Edition Master card for allot less money & am getting the best performance I have ever gotten with any graphics card setup I have ever tried. Better than any SLI or CF configuration, or any other single card setup I had ever tried. And I believe the main reason for this is the GDD4 memory & the clock speeds it is able to attain (1000MHz). Not only that, but the GPU clock speed is 650MHz.

I was kinda put off by the power requirements anyway, with the card needing not only the regular 6-pin connection, but another 8-pin connection. Actually the 2nd 6-pin connector from my PSU worked (fit) in the 8-pin connector but was only good for power requirement purposes, no over clocking without the 8-pin connection connected.

So I believe I have finally cured the curiosity issue I have had with graphic cards & this sim & will stick with the card I have now.

But I believe, from reading many reviews, if you play other games beside this sim, the HD2900XT is an awesome card.

It is. Falcon NW has sent one of their top-O-the-line boxes to CPU Magazine for review and it contains 2x HD2900XT's in CF so, there must be some merit in them. As far as THIS game is concerned though, it's simply an incompatibility associated with age and overkill.

workky, in order to post a picture, you need to go someplace like here http://www.photobucket.com and open an account (yes, it's free) and place your pictures in your photo album. Then, underneath each picture you'll see the links for URL, email etc,...

I was really hoping for more positive feedback on this issue,i know i cant be the only one with this card playing this game.I dont really like the idea of sending this one back and getting something else.IL-2 is not running as well as it did with my 7800GTX's.Im disappointed ,but i am tweaking some settings and having some success.Nothing like i feel it should be though.I did hang on to one of my 7800's in case of an emergency, but i havent reached that stage as of yet.I will keep working on this thing till i get it.Anyhelp is appreciated. One thing i dont know **** about is the CCC.Im slowly working through this,it seems small changes in CCC make big changes in Il-2,big changes in a bad way.But i got the artifact problem to go away,i just need alittle performance (fps) out of this setup. We'll get it , sometime .Thanks

The m8s that are running this card, 2900XT, are running it with less than perfect settings in order to get their fr's a bit higher. I tried very hard for a couple weeks & never got it to render with max eye candy & decent fr's. So if you find something that works for you, please share that info.

As mentioned above, it is my feelings, as well as others, that the 2900XT is just too much for this older gaming engine. Hence the reason why the X1900 series seems to run this sim allot better in the performance arena.
