Hey JG52
Im in the 4./JG52 that also flies with the 9./JG54. I have even seen the 5./JG52 flying on hyper lobby. JG52 is such a broad term that incorperates so many staffels , kinda gets confusing whos who. To make it worst I dont think ubi allows names to start with a number , thats why my name is JG52 Reload on ubi but 4./JG52_Reload on hyper lobby. Well just a thought. Hope to cya up and good luck!

I'm glad to finally get the chance to talk to/hear from you. Your post has helped clear up some confusion that we were having. Several of our pilots have seen you at UBI and have been asking me if you were one of our new recruits. The way you explained the registration process at UBI makes perfect sense.
Yes, there are a lot of JG52 squads in IL-2/FB. Although it is historically correct and helps distinguish from all of the other JG52 squads, we chose not to put a designation (Gruppe/Staffel) number in our uniform for a couple of reasons.
1) We're a "carry-over" squadron from Janes WWII Fighters where there was no need to distinguish ourselves otherwise because we were THE ONLY JG52. We were possibly even the first JG52 squad at HyperLobby, but you would have to ask Jiri to find out for sure. Also back then in WWIIF, by the time you put on a big uniform like that, you would've been forced to use a 3-letter callsign as a name.
2) Because we don't use a designation number in our uniform, it sets our identity apart from all of the others that do. Were it necessary for us to have a designation in front of JG52, we would probably use "Stab/" since everything else seems to be taken. However, we feel that this would make us look conceited and be a bit ridiculous from a historical perspective.
Don't get me wrong though. I think that what the other JG52 squads are doing is great and they seem to be really well organized. A few that I've looked at are even comprised of pilots that are all from the same country. For example, one is a Brazilian squad, another is Spanish, and one is German.
Basically, we're not too concerned about being 100% historically accurate. We're more concerned about working together as a team, promoting group comradery and having fun flying online. After all, isn't that what it's all about?
