After what seemed like a successful install and update I tried to run the game and got error message:
"the binkw32.dll file is installed in the Windows or Windows System directory - it must be installed in the application directory"
So I renamed the copy of binkw32.dll in the windows directory and tried again, error message:
"the granny2.dll is installed in the Windows or Windows System directory - it must be installed in the application directory"
renamed that and the error message is:
"granny2.dlll file not found"
But i can see that granny2.dll file in the game folder
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5
Any ideas? Specs of my machine - intel core 2, 3gig ram, ati hd5700

uninstall the game. install ccleaner. install the game again (do not install in program files)

If that doesn't work try this (taken from Sorlim's ctd thread)
"Uninstall all "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable" packages from your computer and install only the one that comes with the Silent Hunter 5 kit".
Something tells me that this might solve the issue for you
