You follow your waypoints to the rough area of the targets, and either hope they haven't moved, or have a very good knowledge of the surrounding area's roads

If the targets are marked in the mission editor, they will show up as target diamonds in A2G mode . . . don't know what kind of range that takes place in, though.

In real life you would know generally where they are through intelligence. You would only free hunt with the aid of a FAC(A) aircraft, he would know where the targets are. LOMAC shows the difucultty of flying modern CAS. If it was easy, 12 Marines would not have been killed by an A-10 at Nasiriya.

If someone wants to make good A-10 missions for no labels, they should inclue overhead maps, with "suspected targets" I am working on using MS Powerpoint to do just that. Currently trying to get ahold of the Aviation charts of Georgia and the Crimea too. Will be posting sections of them for general use when I do.

Also, go to SimHq and read the Hog articles, a lot of the modern CAS concept is described there. A-10's are old birds, the pilot still counts on the MK.1 eye ball to find targets, if you are sam hunting use your EW console for fixes and get "LOW".

When you find targets, id them in relation to "easy landmarks". Fly a big pattern and make many passes. Using a voice server like TS and Ventrillo helps too, as pilots on-line can call out targets and use marking rockets to help each other.

Use some planning and coordination and the LOMAC experience can be huge.

    Hope this helps some.

Fly low over the target area, and when the rounds start bouncing off your plane look around for the tracers.

Seriously, though, I found smoke helped when I was flying the Su-25. This way I only had to find the targets once, mark them with the smoke, and then I could easily find them again each time I turned back to make another run at them.
