Thread: *NEW* 441 RCAF Operation 'Market-Garden' Skin Pack | Forums

Contains 3 skins for use with the Spit Mk VIII. Depicts 3 aircraft from 441 RCAF as they appeared in the fall of 1944 during Operation 'Market-Garden', as featured in paintings by Ron Lowry from the book 'Spitfire - The Canadians'.

    Included are:

NH209, coded 9G-K ... a recent letter assignment as noted by the dark green patch underneath the 'K'. Flown by F\L Guy Mott from Sarnia, Ontario.

MK941, coded 9G-H, flown by F\L Hugh Ritchie from Toronto, Ontario. Ritchie designed the Silver Fox insignia for the 441 Squadron crest.

ML345, coded 9G-W, flown by S/L Roy 'Kelly' Walker from Niagara Falls.

Each aircraft is painted with a unique invasion stripe style (different variations were evident in 2TAF) although they are all of the 'half' style, appearing on lower surfaces only.

Skins made using Cpt Farrell's Mk VIII template.

Couple of other pics (sorry 56k'ers) to show the variations in the paintscheme from airplane to airplane.

I tried to copy directly from the paintings, looks as if the inv. stripes were cut down from the original wraparound style on the body with no real standard. One set follows the demarcation line as the top limit while the other extends further up. Also note the rushed job repainting the sides of the fuselage where Ocean Gray/Dark Green are applied to alternating panels vs. trying to redo the overall camo pattern.
    Cheers!
