Hello

I just bought the game recently after playing SH3 a while back for a long time, with no trouble but when installed SHIV on my computers they don't want to play

On the desktop computer the game loads up to the menu and once your game mission has been selected it just takes its time loading and never goes further

On the laptop is works right too the actual game play but it runs slow and there is not a boat in the picture only the crew on deck. I just went to run the game on the laptop and the dreaded blue screen came up.

Any help will appreciated because i just can't wait to kill the boredom of Thursday afternoon! lol

Hello Rabkebab,
There are different versions of SH4. Could you tell us which version you are using.
If you could also tell us what kind of computer you are using. Graphic card, amount of RAM.
You should be patched to version 1.4. If your using SH4 U-boat mission 1.5 that is the latest release of the game. Also your graphic card should have the most updated driver.
SH4 is a demanding game for computers.

Hi would i be right in saying that i could be running version 1.0 which came up on the right hand side on the menu?

Yes, your version number is in the bottom right of the screen when you see the menu. Good for you finding the version number. It is sometimes a bit hard to see where it is.
To get information and updating to patch 1.4 go here.
Patch 1.4 is the only patch you have to download. Patch 1.4 has all the previous patches included in the download.

Thank you for your help so far but the problem still exists after downloading and installing the 1.4 patch

Robin, lets try this. I will show you how to know more about your computer.
Go to your desktop and find the desktop icon - My Computer. Click on this icon and then click your right hand mouse button. A box will appear. Look down the list to the last item and it will say - Properties, click that. Now a box comes up it will say System and under that it tells you what system you have. Then it has Registered to, information. After that it says - Computer and under this is more information about your computer.
Could you reply with what it says under System and Computer. We don't need to know the Registered to information, that is your business.

Here might be an easier way to do this.
Click here and it will take you to a Ubi site that will test your computer and see if it can run SH4. Just click Run and see what it says. It will also list what is in your computer.

So it looks like i will need to get a new graphics card because it can't be updated

Did all the other parts of the test pass?
What did it say You Have for System RAM?

When I first got the game I had to buy more RAM to make mine work better.
At least we found out for you what to do to make the game run better.
