Dark Messiah of Might and Magic vs Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion. IS pretty much the same game. I have elder scrolls 4 oblivion and i have good pc with high performances. But it is still has terrible frame rates. But the game is awesome. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - i hope has good frame rates. What do you guys think about that?????

First off, there is already a thread like this. Second TES 4 is nothing like DM, I could rave about why, but at the other thread i already did. Could a mod close this thread please?

i have elder scrolls obliv and i never get lag...im on a amd 5500 proc. 64 bit architecture. second, it is true about DM and obliv not being in the same genre. i hope this game is as fun. the screenies look good but the controls is what im worried about. i hope there good and not "too loose" or "too tight". i got it on pre order so all i can do is hope.

If you're talking about the comparison in performance, Dark Messiah should run much more smoothly.

Oblivion uses all dynamic lighting, which can put a strain on your system because it's constantly having to calculate all the lighting. The self-shadowing and cast shadows (even thought they are only based off of the brightest light source) can add a strain as well.

Dark Messiah uses the Source engine, and probably 90% or more of the lighting will be pre-compiled (meaning the when the level is created all the lighting for it is created, and your computer won't have to calculate at run-time). The shadows are also much simpler.

So, without taking into consideration differing poly counts or any extremely complex new shaders they come up with for Dark Messiah, it should run a bit more smoothly.

    Gothic 3 will wipe Oblivion!!!

Aside to that, I hope UBI wont neglect M&M legacy
just to lure average Joe and his money.
    To illustrate my fears :

Never-ending action: Challenge the forces of evil in 12 huge levels and learn to master over 30 weapons and a variety of devastating spells. Engage the enemy in intense melee combat with swords, bows, staffs and daggers, summon magic powers against the legions of darkness or sneak in the shadows to stalk nefarious creatures. It’s heart-pounding action where success in combat will dictate destiny.
    <- from ubi site

To me, this doesnt sound like a worthy successor, but a lure for fat, stupid fish....

I still hope I am wrong

well this isn't might and magic X, and really the only thing that scares me is the 12 levels thing. On a Q & A topic some dev said there are like 34 maps, which includes cities. How long is the sp gonna be? I'm hopin more than 8 hours.

Boo hoo, Dark Messiah is going to stink because it's not turn based! Oh, wait, someone already said that in this thread. I'm sorry. ... Troll.
