Build Order for a Religious Military Strategy
I love this game so much, that I've started to help with the Wiki. I am Koreos in there. Please contribute! Post the guides and strategies in there~
we need a revamp now for starter guides to help the newbies and people trying to adjust. the amount of people leaving matches and the increased length to GET a match is very noticeable
The problem I am finding with starter guides is that the majority are lacking information such as specific food support on that unit or it's work status. While I appreciate the effort some people put in to assist, there always seems to be that missing information that makes it work as intended.
I have followed and used all of the offerings added in threads here but to no avail. I have tried everything I can think of and implemented them in test maps, including being finicky about how many work yards per house and the number of storage units there are.
I find the game faulty when it comes to pig farmers and butchers who for some reason despite there being 114 pieces of meat will not make FF fast enough to outstrip demand of themselves and the weapons needs alone. I have no other house unit on FF. The little buggers just do whatever they want, not unlike UBI staff members. :->
The bakers are pretty darned sluggish as well. A waste of time to boost them or milled flour. Mathematical suicide!
At this point, and just my findings, is that the only units worth boosting are hunters, stone and wood. Mind you when you have no FF you're screwed. However I have finished games with only one quarry, one lodge/ with sawmill-cutter-forester attached and not had problems needing building materials. However when I get to the point of wanting soldiers I then remove their FF support to no food (add more woodcutters and quarries on no food to take up the slack) and transfer FF to weapons and gold NR's so soldiers can be made, at which point the butchers go on strike or something. Really? 114 meat, 22 fully upgraded storehouses, 98 carriers 4 butchers and you won't make FF?
All the while constantly hearing "Oh NO! Your enemy is doing much better than you putz.", Oh No, your opponent already has the means to wipe your military arse!" And that's not all. There's give or take, 14 work yards all whining about something, no wheat when there's 86 available, no water when there's 126...and now, "oh no, your opponent needs only one more VP!"
Phhht.. I have 4 generals, 12 cannons and a pikeman, 114 meat and 126 pails of water, upgraded castle---they couldn't possibly defeat me now! :-D
Game over, church player has won. Huh? No battles? Sorry, no battles. Settlers has become a beer making, beer drinking race only, where the little robed beggers walk past your cannons in single file to the science building and you can't lop their bloody heads off. Why not? Why can't you bust a cleric in the chops? Seems a disadvantage to original settlers players who love to hack and whack clerics and their armies. Just once I want to pulverize their snooty little arses. And why is tech only available to one player, the fastest to get there? A perfect world for Sony if Samsung can't get tech as well.
Oh well, you learned something right? Ya... butchers suck, they eat but don't make FF for anyone else, clerics get a free ride and this game is now about spreading the success of religion. UBIsoft is now proselytizing your unreligious a**. You did make a small useless army though, good for you.

If we take Empire maps, there is only one map which strongly favors Science, and that's map Grassland Mesa (only 6 VPs to win, easy to achieve Economist and Pacifist, has 2 Quest Science VPs, low amounts of clerics needed to win peripheral special sectors).
On all other maps combination of Military and Trade have at least equal chances of winning than Science. There is no Empire map where you can win easily only with Trade or only with Military though.
About FF. you must start producing it as soon as possible (only hunters at start, later pig farms and few hunters). And you must not start consuming FF before you have certain minimum amount of FF. My experiences show you need at least 40 units of FF before you start consuming it. If you start spending FF too soon, its production will slow down.
And last, your army. You must build at least 24 canons, 10 horsemen and 1 standard bearer army to win other castles in early or middle stages of match. You just also pick a good general to lead this army. And you also need ability to send additional troops to general, when they perish.
When you build an army, take down the player, who is threatening to win by Science as soon as possible. After you bring this player down, you your path to victory becomes wider. Or maybe in meantime some other player will attack your undefended castle and you will loose aswell![]()

Here's a guide i just wrote on Workflow, Storehouses and Building, hopefully someone finds it useful.
