Thread: First time the "report contacts" button worked for me | Forums

  1. #1
A few minutes ago I was in my '41 campaign. Suddenly I recieve a radio message about a radio contact (convoy). Accidently I pressed the "report contacts" button and to my surprise the radio guy tells me "Next radio contact on course 019 distance 1161 km" (see picture below).
At first I thought this was related to the convoy message I have recieved minutes earlier but then I recognized that this thing the radio guy told me about is more than 1000 km away of my position and at a completely different bearing than the convoy! See second picture.

So my question: Has anyone else experienced this before? I mean did the report contacts button work and in which context??

Wich mods do you have in your game? Never have seen anything similar.

I have Silent hunter III with patch 1.4(b), Real Uboat 1.43 and "16 km basic atmosphere mod v1.0".
I have installed them in this above order, so the atmosphere mod overwrites some files of the Rub mod but I think thats not a big issue, because these are only the files which make the water darker and so on.

There's an old saying in aeronautics:
"Don't point the nose in a direction where your mind hasn't been five minutes ago."

Diamond_Head adapted this saying for the Kriegsmarine with his telepathic funker:
"Don't report a contact you haven't seen 2 full days journey away."

Or perhaps he and a fellow funker onboard another u-boat picked up the transmission from the ship and they managed to triangulate the ship's position!

Anyway, was way too far to be intercepted. Crapy, crapy, crapy.

Will try the bottom, to see if it works or was just a quirk, as said by WilhelmSchulz.

    Agreed,its too far away.

You could always find a narrow straight that ships have to pass through and hang around there.

I gave up on the "Report Contacts" button a long time ago.

@WilhelmSchulz: the gray contact symbol is not a quirk but a feature of the Real Uboat mod.

@all: I dont mind a 2 day journey to a contact, but I doubt that I will be able to get visual on the contact as they might surely change course.

Back on topic: I am really quite excited by this issue.
I think I will savegame and investigate the position my radio guy told me about.
But I'm still awaiting an "official" response to this occurence.

@Mylo42: I gave up the report contacts button too - but as I wrote I hit it accidently
