Its not so much that they have a thriving industrial economy, other than some damn good Rum, but it would open doors for American Markets to go in and start making some money.
His brother is more of the same. this would be the perfect time for a Cuban revolution. try to start a Democratic process over there.

Castro stepped down because of poor health. for all we know he probably died during recovery from his surgery last year.

As a fan of Cold War history, this is amazing news.
I have to agree, not much or anything will change. The buzz is that his brother is as bad or worse than he is.
I am old nuff to remember the Soviet Union, and the old Soviet propaganda news. As such it made me chuckle and a bit nostalgic to hear that, "there would be elections" In this regime like all Soviet style regimes an election equates to Communist Party members and one person to vote for!

Oh how I miss the good ole days!

yeah expo i had pretty much the same feelings when the news broke.

They should have a revolution. If his brother has not cemented his position completely, there might be a slim chance of a coup.
