The biggest and most stupid mistake that the makers of farcry ever made was to not release proper SERVER files for windows.

i used to run games servers and the most annoying thing was that you could never get the dedicated server files to run a server underwindows without having to manually get the cd to the server hardware. (Somwone should need sacking for not sorting this out)

I just hope the same mistake is not made this time round with farcry 2

and also having no suport for downloading maps for the server is another stupid mistake which makes the life time of playing online alot shorter, just take battlefield 2 for example the standard maps become boring and unless you manually download the map file and everyone has the map then there is no way the server can really run custom maps and defeats the idea of having a level editor apart from 1 player maps.

.... you could upload the files from your home computer to a dedicated server without the cd. I did it a bunch of times. Im not sure what you are exactly saying?

I would put that one way behind no patch for Linux servers, CD Key issues and no auto map download functions...

I still think you guys are bananas... you didnt need the cd in the serve machine to run a dedicated server..

Riz, either you totally missed his point or I filled in blanks that werent there.

I thought he was complaining that there was a lack of a dedicated Server D/L like you have for other games, you had to know what to extract from the game CD or as you have done with a standard installation...

Which is why I agreed it was a failing, but small because there were easy work arounds compared to the other stuff...

BTW forgot one... Netcode...

Re drink, some of use drink the beer warm because we can, not something you can do with a Sammy now is it? Not without good health cover
