ive got 2 Dell computers, each with 2 sticks of 256 RAM. im thinking about taking out a stick from one and putting it in the other. im pretty sure its the same kind because they're both Dells. anyways would someone be able to tell a huge decrease in performance in the computer the RAM is taken out of, if all they do is surf the net and play solitare?

also what else might i need to do when i take out the RAM and place it in the other comp? adjust settings on both computers? ive never done this before so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

so what your saying is you are going to 'steal' the ram for use in your machine and want us to tell you if the other 'party' will notice? Probably not is that's all they are doing.

yeah you found me out. its my parents computer. im about to go to college. they dont play any high end video games either so i figure they wont mind. all they do is surf the net, play solitare, and taxes when that comes around.

but is there a link to a good website or something important i should know? it seems to easy just to plug it in and im good to go.

Also, check with them to get the specs on your mobo to ensure you put it into the correct memory slot.

If the 256 stick in the other computer is the only ram in that machine they'll DEFINITELY notice. If it's only half of 512MB total, they probably wont.
