Are you a pilot, is that what you do?

If you answered yes to these questions or if you could not answer them at all you may be the pilot we are looking for. VF-51 is the fighter squadron component of the unique and distinguished virtual Air Group 51 of the United States Navy operating primarily off of CVL-30, the USS San Jacinto.

Air Group 51 is currently serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations engaged in vicious and mortal combat against the naval and air forces of the Japanese Empire. VF-51 is currently structured into two flights and we have a few openings for both flights for recruit trainees.

We are looking for virtual pilots who can take flying in a squad seriously, fly their airframe as if it was the real thing and their life depended upon their skills and training, while at the same time maintaining a high level of fun and camaraderie with a jovial domineer and a strutting swagger befitting a true Hollywood type.

Experience is not required, only a willingness to learn and a desire to fly with the best in a team atmosphere. You will learn and become proficient in period carrier ops and procedures, learn a love for classic radio programs of the 40s, know the difference between the bounce, the merge, the low quarter lag, the bracket attack, the cross split, and the Thatch Weave all while holding contempt for the knuckle dragger's bent over their Norden Bombsights flying like girls with level stab engaged! Its Stick and Rudder Man!!!

I'm sort of interested in you guys, but I never see any of you on HL or on your teamspeak. Unless you guys fly elsewhere.. this is a problem with most of the squadrons I see, I want a squadron to do organized flying with online, but there's never anyone around.

Skarmy just a heads up, not every squadron uses Hyperlobby for their meet ups. I can't speak for VF51 (although I am sure I've seen a few of them on HL before and even flown with one or two of them) but as an example we at JG53 run our missions through direct IP, maybe the good chaps here at VF51 do the same?
best bet woudl be to get onto their forums and speak to them directly as you'll likely get answeres faster.

V is absolutely correct. We don't find ourselves on HL as often as we used to in years past. We do a lot of coops and SEOW stuff and tend to go direct IP. We've been here since the beginning of IL2, though originally as IV/JG51. We're on our TS during squad nights, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 2200 EDT. Come post at our forums.
